We
had a litter of puppies 5 years ago and kept a bitch and a dog. You have
already heard the story of Lily and her therapy work at the local hospital.
Well, she has a sibling, Phoenix, who is a bundle of energy and just full of
himself (sound familiar to any of you?) Early on, he was trained with the
'watch 'em', whenever we met anyone walking on the sidewalk or coming at us for
whatever reason. It was more a focus exercise than anything.
Fast forward to the present on hikes in the woods. Whenever we run across
another hiker, he comes to me, sits on my left side and 'watches 'em'. This is
all done on his own, without a word from me. I dunno what it means, but being a
human, I'd like to think he is watching out for his mistress and letting that
other individual know he is 'watching 'em'. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling all
over.
